We checked 6 places to buy a real Christmas tree near Chelmsford, from Longacres to Lathcoats Farm, for 2026 dates and prices. Updated November 2026.
There are six places to buy a real Christmas tree for a Chelmsford home in 2026, and this guide puts them in one place with opening dates, prices where they are published, and delivery. Most people will land on Longacres in Springfield, the one garden centre in the city with 2026 tree prices online; Lathcoats Farm in Galleywood, which grows its own and rents potted trees; and Christmas Wrapped Up near High Easter, a family tree farm that is already open. Every entry was checked against the seller’s own website on 5 November 2026.
Two are in the city, three are farms a short drive out, and one delivers.

It also runs a rent-a-tree scheme: you tag a potted tree in the field at least a week before collection, keep it for no more than three or four weeks, and bring it back after Christmas to keep growing, with the option of the same tree the following year. Rental trees start at about 2 to 3ft and reach about 5ft after five years.
The farm’s Christmas page still describes its 2025 trail and late evenings, but the rental booking page is taking bookings now.

4. Slamseys, Great Notley
Slamseys Farm, beside the A131 south of Great Notley, has sold Christmas trees since the 1970s, when, the family says, Phil Wheaton stood a few outside the farmhouse door and sold out. It now grows its own Nordmann firs and Norway spruces and every November turns its grain store into the Christmas Tree Barn, so trees are chosen under cover.
Sawn trees run from a 1m Norway spruce to a 3m Nordmann, the most popular being a 2m Nordmann, and pot-grown trees are about 1m. It lists Chelmsford among the towns within easy reach.
Dogs are not allowed in the Christmas Tree Barn, except assistance dogs.

How we chose
We looked for places selling real trees in Chelmsford, farms within a reasonable drive that name Chelmsford among the towns they serve, and firms that deliver to Chelmsford postcodes, and kept only those whose own websites we could read on 5 November 2026. We left out Christmas Among the Trees at Purleigh, whose tourism listing has been taken down and which has no website of its own we could find, West Hyde Christmas Trees at Tillingham, which is a long way out and had no 2026 dates online, and Leigh Trees in Westcliff, which delivers free only to SS postcodes.
